I am based in London and graduated with a BA Hons (1st Class) Three Dimensional Design in Glass from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. During the three years of my university, especially my final year has led me to discover my inner inspirations, it has unleashed my individuality and now, it has shaped me to become an inspired glass artist.
My work revolves around the inspiration of water. Water has intrinsic qualities that is pure, transparent and could be perceived in many different states. Water always seems to find it’s way out and this way, my aim is to relax and enhance the interior environments in this hectic world today.
Therefore, I intend to produce work to show a beautiful perspective of this world by capturing mind soothing moments of the Sea that communicates a sense of stillness, calm and tranquility for my audience. I chose glass to explore the transparency of water as they both share similar qualities. To mimic the properties of water, I find glass being the core material to work with as it allows me to reflect the core aesthetics of the sea such as it’s transparency, shades and the depth.
I enjoy working in kiln casting where the lead crystal glass is heated at high temperatures inside the kiln. This itself reminds me of different states of water, such as how water becomes a liquid, when melted and ice, a solid, when cooled. Therefore this allows glass to takes unique and complex forms determined by the designed mould, allowing me to produce new forms and develop my work further by experimenting, exploring and pushing the boundaries of working with glass to achieve something unique.
